Overview

Labs Synapse builds tools to manage and sync AI rulebases across IDEs. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

What We Collect

• Website analytics (if enabled): basic usage metrics like page views and referrers.
• Support communications: emails you send to us and any information you include.
• Product data (local by default): your `.synapse/` rules live in your project and are not uploaded unless you configure a service that does so.
• Payments (Stripe): if you purchase Pro, we collect your email and limited purchase metadata (e.g., checkout/session id, price id, purchase status) to deliver and manage your license.
• Licensing records: for Pro purchases we store your email, license key, plan, status, and related purchase identifiers in our backend database (hosted by a database service provider).

Payments (Stripe)

We use Stripe as our payment processor. Stripe processes your payment details and may collect information needed to complete the transaction (such as your billing details). We receive your email and limited purchase metadata so we can:

• Issue your license key and show it on the success page.
• Resend your license key on request and provide support.
• Prevent fraud/abuse and enforce licensing.
• Maintain records required for accounting and tax.

We do not use purchase emails for marketing or profiling unless you explicitly opt in.

Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate the product. These providers process data on our behalf for the purposes described in this policy:

• Payment processor (Stripe): payment processing.
• Database service provider: licensing records (email + license key + status).
• Hosting provider: to run the website and APIs.
• Email delivery provider: to send license keys and support responses (when configured).

How We Use Data

• Operate and improve the website and product.
• Respond to support requests and security reports.
• Enforce licensing and prevent abuse (for Pro features).
• Process payments and deliver licenses (via Stripe) when you purchase Pro.

Optional Telemetry

Some features can collect optional usage telemetry (for example, token totals and token deltas from compression). Telemetry is off by default, and you can disable it at any time. We do not intentionally collect your rule text as telemetry.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your data. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full payment card details. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain licensing and transaction-related records as needed to provide Pro access, prevent abuse, and comply with legal/accounting obligations. You can request deletion of your account-related data, subject to required retention.

Your Choices

• You can choose not to send support emails.
• You control what you store in your repo; avoid placing secrets in rules.
